Christmas fun!

We had a wonderful Christmas. My mom came up to SLC and stayed the night with us which is always fun to have her especially for the kids. I feel we had a wonderful and humble Christmas this year compared to other years. There were fewer presents but what was there was greatly loved and appreciated. Marc was given a gift certificate that we donated to help a family who we knew were in desperate need. I think in the next couple years I want to go serve meals on Christmas instead of receive. I always love helping others where and when I can even if it's not much. Here's the tree before the kids got up... We didn't take any pics while opening since it added to the humbleness in our opinion. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too. Much love!

Snow fun!

Well, yesterday Utah County and further north of us got pounded with snow and we got nothing! NADA except our snow melted a bit. So in light of no snow and actually being upset about it I am posting some pictures we took last week when it snowed a lot. This was my birthday on the 18th. The kids loved it and I think I got some fun pictures.... Enjoy!

And MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Please remember the real reason why we celebrate, because of our Savior Jesus Christ and His life and sacrifice.

Hannah lost her FIRST TOOTH!

Hannah lost her first tooth on Tuesday night. Marc and I thought she'd love one of the High School Musical barbies we got for her instead of money for her first tooth only. From now on Hannah will get a gold coin for her teeth. She was so sweet when she woke up and found her gift from the tooth fairy... I'm so proud of Hannah and how much she's changing and turning into a little woman. She's an amazing little girl and I'm honored to be her mother.

AFTER:

This week so far...

Well, I thought we'd just be busy this week with lot's of fun filled activities but it turns out to have been a bit more than that.

On Wednesday morning my phone rang and I answered a call from the DCFS caseworker regarding Shaylee. She proceeded to tell me Shaylee was cleared to go home that very day and that I was to call her mother to let her know when I'd be able to. Well, in complete shock I hung up the phone and shared the news with Marc... We were both in shock! Shaylee going home? We had already purchased tickets for the dinner with Santa at the Zoo so I called her mom and told her we'd have her home after we were done there. She was breathless and so excited to have her daughter home. I must admit, I was happy to have her go home but at the same time I was a bit sad for her. I know Shaylee loved going to church with us and really enjoyed primary. She had never been before and I know she need it so much right now. I hope the seeds we planted with her will grow somehow through her own will. I also hope she'll be safe from the troubles that have haunted her little life and I trust that God has her in His hands. He always has so far. So, we went to the Zoo and had a great time there and Santa was great, he took a lot of time talking to each child which I know they loved. We love Shaylee and will miss her dearly.
Here are our pics from that night.

No real news!

So, I don't have any real news to share or a cool story to write as well, but I thought I'd just write and say things are good so far.
Marc had his office party on Saturday and that was fun, white elephant gifts are always fun to exchange. There was yummy food too!
My mom graciously watched the kids from Friday to Sunday and Marc and I had a great weekend alone. We celebrated my birthday a little early and went to dinner, slept till noon (LOL), and had some good talks. Thank you mom!!!
This week is filled with fun stuff, Tues., is Marc's last final so school will be done until next semester. Wednesday we're having dinner with Santa at the Zoo then checking out the lights they put up around the zoo. The kids have no idea that's what we're doing and I'm so excited! Thursday is my b-day and Marc took some of his vacation days he had left so he'll be off Thurs. and Friday. Also on Thurs. my friend Winter is getting married so we'll go to her reception. Then Friday we're visiting Temple Square and listening to my mom's choir sing too. It will be lot's of fun this week!
I hope today's adventures don't dictate how the rest of the week will go... A pipe broke by one of the other apartment buildings in our complex so we have no water right now. I hope it doesn't take long!
Take care all of you who read my blog! Thank you for stopping by!

Sunday Thoughts...

Recently I've been in a very thoughtful mood which has made me come to a few realizations...

Marc and I were talking last night about my past and the blessings that came from wrong decisions and I realized just how much Heavenly Father led me through some hard times so I could see the light. This story I'm about to tell is very special to me and if you read you'll know more about me than most do...

When I was 17 I found myself pregnant and not married... I was scared, horrified, humiliated and didn't know what to do. In December of that year...(95), my mom took me to the Forgotten Carols which was held at my high school before it was held in a bigger place. I watched and really enjoyed the presentation... I didn't know what I was in for when the end came and he sang some of his famous songs. One in particular hit me the most... Michale McLean sat at the piano playing the top hand to a song over and over... Then he paused, put his head down, began playing again and said, "there's someone here tonight who is going through a hard time and needs to know their Heavenly Father loves them, and they know who they are." Then he began to sing "Hold On, The Light Will Come". I cried listening to the words and thought to myself how special for that person and what a great song... I walked to the car with my mom wanting to cry and also still feeling happy for that person who had been sung to.
Christmas came and we opened the few gifts under the tree, my mom pulled out one small gift that said, "To Heather, Love Santa." I opened the gift and found Michael McLean's CD inside with the words, "Heather I have a special message for you inside." I opened the CD and with tears in my eyes read the words, "Heather, Hold On, Hold On, the light WILL come eventually. Your Friend, Michael.".
I looked at my mom and cried and cried. I asked my mom if this was her doing, if she had asked him to sign a CD for her and whatnot and she replied no. She began to tell me that one day when she got home from work there was a small package at the front door of our house. She took it inside and waited for Christmas to see what it was. That Christmas day so many years ago I knew without a doubt that my Heavenly Father knew who I was and knew what I needed at that very moment. Michael McLean had listened to inspiration at that moment and had found where I lived so I could know I wasn't alone and that I was loved by more than I knew.
Eventually I placed my little daughter and it was the hardest thing I had ever done to that date, but now I know I did the right thing. She is truly happy and has the perfect mother and father and I don't regret for one moment not having her as mine. The moment I saw her little face in the hospital, the thought hit me she wasn't mine and that she was meant for someone else. I love her and her parents very much. When ever this time of the year comes around I always remember that Christmas so many years ago and the new course my life took so many years ago. I love my Savior very much and am proud of who I have become today. I've done many things I'm not proud of in my life, but I'm proud of what they've helped me become.

Merry Christmas my friends and don't forget what Christmas is all about, our Savior, His life and His sacrifice for us all.

What a week...

Well, things have calmed down a bit and I'm very grateful for that. But... Friday Jaidyn came down with the croup which passed on to Hannah and then Shaylee which turned into Strep!! Now, I'm getting a little throat bug and I think it's because of my stress level being up and my immunity system being down. So, now the girls are on antibiotics and we're up several times a night with a chorus of coughs... Can you hear it now? This proves there's humor to be found no matter our situation in life.

Here's to wishing me luck in the battle of the sickos!

Again thank you to all my friends out there for your support and kind words.

I'm back...

Thank you to those who emailed me after my last post. Things aren't better yet, but I'm working on the path to making things better and really feel at peace with the decisions I'm making. I don't know how often I'll be posting, but I will keep my readers updated.

Going to rocky times in life are really hard to handle sometimes. Especially when you feel your plate is already spilling over. I know that with the Lord's help I can make it through anything that is thrown at me. I also found out just how many people care about me and my family, and I am truly grateful for my true friends.

I can forgive what was done to me with time and the path will be long and hard, but together Marc and I can heal our relationship as well as some counseling thanks to the Bishop! We're only human and are destined to make mistakes and I will head the command of the Savior when He said (I'm paraphrasing here) I will decide who to forgive, but of you it is required to forgive... I will, I promise.

Much love to you all...

Leave of Absence

I just wanted my readers to know that I need to take a leave of absence for a while. I don't know how long I'll be away from this blog since I've had a earth and life shaking event tonight. Just please think of me and my children and if you pray, please say a prayer for me. I need it...

Much love to all of you... feel free to email me if you want, no guarantees I'll answer. heathergrimes@yahoo.com

Pre-Thanksgiving

Today I thought I'd express some things I'm grateful for in honor of Thanksgiving tomorrow.

First my family. I'm thankful for my mother, my husband, my children and my extended family.

Second I'm thankful for my husband's job so I can be a stay at home mom. He works hard for our family and I love what I do.

I'm thankful for my Savior and the Gospel. I don't know who or where I'd be without it. With all the trials in life it's the one constant I can depend on to save me and bring me back up again.

I'm thankful to be a mother and wife. I am truly blessed.

I'm thankful for friends past and present who have helped me become who I am and accept me for who I am.

Children

Hannah and mom, and Jaidyn and mom making chocolate milk.

Today I have been reflecting on my children and have truly been humbled to think of how amazing they are and how I have been blessed to have them in my life. I love them so much and love learning from them. It's amazing that Heavenly Father trusted me with such sweet spirits and I really love how much they've affected me. Even though Shaylee is just my niece, I see her has my daughter right now and have learned that the Lord's hands guide the lives of the children for the better. She's an amazing girl with such a sweet spirit radiating from her.

I don't know who knows that's reading this, but in July and October I suffered miscarriages and even though that happened I know Heavenly Father has a plan for us individually and that he doesn't give us more than we can handle. I have faith that one day I can have a baby again when the time is right. This experience has made me so much stronger. I've had some internal struggles lately and just thinking of my children, past and present has now made me realize just how incredible life can be.

I've come up with a new motto for the next while... "Come what may and LOVE IT!" Marc and I have always had the saying between us, "Come what may" thanks to the song in Moulin Rouge (one of my favorite movies by the way) that has boosted me when I've needed it, but I think adding on to it now will be even better.

My sweet niece Shaylee

Anxiety and baking

I have been suffering with some anxiety lately and I've decided that I needed to bake to help ease the stress. A while back I got an awesome bread recipe from Becca Mathis and decided I needed to make the bread. Her recipe is so easy and good and if you want it I can e-mail it to you... It makes 3 loaves total.

Back to the anxiety... Shaylee our niece who's been living with us is having her teeth fixed with general anesthesia and I'm a bit nervous for her since it's her first. I know I've mentioned this before, but today we were told the time of 11:45. She can't eat or drink after she goes to bed tonight so she's going to be really hungry tomorrow. I hope after she recovers she will be able to eat pretty well. Maybe we'll do something special for the meals...
Then there's the subject of Christmas which we're really excited for but anxious about how to provide one... My father in law always said that children come with their own bread baskets which means that everything somehow works out which I'm praying for. Besides, it might be a good time to really focus on why we celebrate Christmas.
I've also felt alone lately even thought I know I'm not. My friends live farther away and I miss them. I haven't had a girls night out for quite a while now and I'm discovering I really need them.

Well, enough with the pity party. This week I'm going to strive to be a better mom and person and whip myself into shape. I'm setting goals for myself as far as cleaning and organizing better, planning meals etc. and I went to this website and have decided to get the yearly organizer that is weekly. I know it's an early time to start thinking about change since it's not January, but I figured while I have the change "bug" I'd better act on it.

Christmas

This year Marc and I decided that we wouldn't get each other any gifts due to a serious lack of funds so the kids can have clothing and a few toys this year. We don't ever do a big Christmas and don't ever want to. We like the idea of smaller Christmases. Well, thanks to a tidbit I read somewhere, I was able to make something for Marc for FREE! I am sooooo excited to see his face when he opens it. I was also able to do one for my mom and his parents which makes our shopping easier and I know they'll love it.

Things haven't changed much around here... We did go to the dentist this week and Hannah and Jaidyn have great teeth but Shaylee is another story. She has 5 cavities with one of them almost to the nerve... She's never complained of any pain and has gotten along just fine with eating. So, the dentist suggested we have all her work done under general anethesia so it will be less traumatic for her. Well, since we have partial custody of her we decided to call her mom and see what she would want and she said it would be fine to have it done that way. So, on Tuesday she's having all her work done and a sealant put on all her other teeth to protect them. She's 4 1/2 and had never been to the dentist which I feel she should have gone earlier, but that's my opinion and that's that. All I know is, it's going to be a long day since as far as I know, I'll be alone and have to bring Hannah and Jaidyn to wait with me which will be hard to contain them for so long. Backpacks with activities will hopefully help, but we'll see.

I'm really excited for Thanksgiving and even cooked a pre-Thanksgiving dinner and loved it! Marc just laughed at me, but really it's one of my favorite meals.

Happy Friday!

Oh My Goodness!

My daughter Hannah has recently fallen in love with High School Musical! She begged and begged me to rent the movie so she could sing with it since that's all she wants to do is sing. I rented #1 and she had some of the lyrics down within a day. She is soooo funny and an amazing singer. I am amazed she can carry such a great tune. She knows all the names of the characters and we went to rent number 2 today and now we're watching it for the second time. I love her excitement and love that it can be something just for her. Now, the dilemma comes as to what to do for Christmas as far as HSM goes.
I never thought my almost 5 year old would already be into such a thing, but she really is surprising me every day as to her growth and independence. She's an amazing little woman for her age and I'm really proud to have her as my daughter.

Memories!! Please post one!

Here's what you do:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

November

Well, it seems November came quick this year and then before I know it it will be December and Christmas! I can't believe how fast time has gone lately.

This weekend our family is going to Trolley Square for the 100 year old anniversary. The Old Spaghetti Factory is having a special all day that has dinners with 6 items (salad, bread and pasta with spumoni ice cream) for $3.00 a person. Kids dinners of spaghetti is only $1.95 so we're going to take advantage for lunch that day. They have many other exciting activities going on to celebrate the history of the place. Even fireworks at 8:00pm! You should check it out! I think it would be worth it.

Our Primary program is Sunday and I'm so excited for my children to participate in their first one! Our ward let Jaidyn come up into Sunbeams 6 months early due to his getting bored and has really fit in well and loves coming to primary instead of nursery. His birthday is at the end of January so he was 3 a long time ago. So, I have 3 kids in sunbeams and it's really fun. Hannah will move up into the next class and Jaidyn and Shaylee will stay back to learn more of the basics.

I found this really cool blog on another friend's blog and I want to post it here... If you have girls you'll love this one. It shows really cool ways to do their hair! She makes it really easy to follow. I've had fun doing my girls hair and they love it too.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Monday Blues

I'm not too excited it's Monday, but we did have a great weekend. We were invited to be in a group that once a month eats food from different countries. There are 4 different couples and we get to try French food. I chose the appetizer and drinks and I'm thinking of doing something called Gougeres or cheese puffs. They look really good, but I"m having a hard time thinking of a French drink... Since we don't drink wine I wanted to think of something creative besides "fancy" grape juice. Do any of you readers have any ideas? Please leave me a comment!

Recently I've come into contact with a family I got to know almost 13 years ago and I'm so grateful that they found me as well as being able to keep tabs on each other after all this time. I love the parents as well as the children and am so grateful for them being apart of my life.

It's been raining a lot and now we're looking at some snow!! I don't know if I'm completely ready for that, but we'll see shortly right? My kids are way too excited for the snow and can't wait to build another snowman or snow woman like this one we did last year.
Here's to changing weather and upcoming holidays! I'm excited for Thanksgiving and all the yummy food!

Early Halloween fun!

We had our annual family Halloween party and it was tons of fun. I won scariest and Marc won most original and my sister in law Kim won funniest. Here's some fun pics of our party!

BTW: my mom got a new kitten the other day, not sure of the sex since it's still too early to see, but it's really cute and sweet. It's a Tabby (I think that's what it is when they're orange and white) and sure loves my mom.

Some of thees pics are at the zoo earlier that day

One Last fun in the SUN!!

This weekend we went down to St. George and are having a blast so far... I really don't want to come home tomorrow but I guess all good things come to an end.

One big thing that happened yesterday was Hannah finally jumped from the side of the pool!! She refused all summer to jump in from the side of the pool at our apartment, but yesterday she asked me to throw her in which I did, then I told her it was just like jumping from the side so she walked over to the side and jumped like it was no big deal. I was so proud and clapped and yelled for her. It was made even better by two aunts and uncles and cousins watching her do it. WOW!!! Now all three of the kids jump from the side with no problem.
Hannah looks like a dolphin in this shot... I thought it was pretty cool!

We're going to shoot our new gun tomorrow before we head home, it's a 9mm Ruger hand gun and it will be my first time shooting it. Should be fun times.

On a sad note, the Thursday we left for St. George my mom and I had to put "Kitten" to sleep. She's been with us for about 10 years and has been the most awesome cat. She all of the sudden was loosing weight and not eating so my mom took her to the vet and he kept her over night and discovered she had a massive tumor on her liver which was causing it to shut down as well as a stone in her bladder. He suggested they could do surgery, but would most likely end up having to put her down. My mom decided to do it the next day which was Thursday. I was so sad but grateful we could be in the room with her when she went. I cried many tears as well as my mom. It's been really tough for her... I'm hopeful she'll get a new cat when she has had time to get over Kitten. We buried her in the back yard and put a big rock over the site as a nice little marker.
Bubby Kitten 10/16/2008 RIP my friend

Well, to end on a more positive note we're having a great time here in St. George and at the same time are anxious to get back to things at home. It's been a great trip so far and we love being able to spend time with our in laws down here. Here's to a good week! Hope yours is good!

Fun times!

We had fun doing pumpkins this weekend! Here's our creations which were really fun, but I still want to carve mine and roast the seeds... Yummmmmm.

Here's Hannah's creation

Jaidyn's creation
Shaylee's creation!

Pumpkin Family!

We found the kits at Wal-Mart and think they were a hit! The kit includes more than one face and is about $3.50. Marc and I gave our pumpkins to neighbor kids who really wanted one so Marc and I will have to go buy two more and get creative in carving really soon! Happy Halloween and pumpkin carving time!

The Halloween Fun begins!

I'm so excited for Halloween! It's my favorite time of the year. I especially love going to pumpkin patches and going on hayrides and going through the mazes. I ran across a really great website yesterday that has so many different locations that do Halloween fun! Here's the link
Check it out and have fun with your families this season!

Friday

I don't have anything to say other than Happy Friday! I'm really excited for Halloween and already have decorations up including a lighted spider that hangs in my window. The kids that also live in my apartment complex are all amazed by it. My kids love Halloween too and can hardly wait to put on their costumes. Hannah is going to be a devil princess, Jaidyn is going to be Spiderman, and Shaylee is going to be a bee.

For anyone in Utah County that reads this, I miss being there and being closer to my friends. It gets kinda lonely up here and since gas prices are so high it makes it hard to travel back and forth... So I'm sending you big hello's and big hugs!!!

Thursday

Well it's Thursday and there's really nothing to look forward to other than The Office season premiere tonight! That's pretty exciting, but other than that there's nothing else to really report. Marc has a big meeting tomorrow for his text message coupon company and I'm really hoping that goes well for him.
Shaylee told me for the first time yesterday how to spell her name all by herself! That was really exciting for sure!
We bought little face pieces that you stick into your pumpkin instead of carving and the kids as well as myself are really excited to try those. They didn't really like carving last year, I loved cooking the seeds though. Yummmm......
Other than that, things are just ok and I'm grateful for that. I hope your Thursdays turn out good as well as the upcoming weekend.

Broken Fridge!

This morning when we got up, the fridge was making an awful noise and I thought to myself oh great here we go! Well not an hour later it started smoking and had a horrible smell. The kids were really scared and thought something was on fire which could have happened I guess. I called the manager and she sent Eric our maintenance guy right over. It turns out our compressor was bad as well as the starter thing and one other thing I can't remember. So.... We got a new fridge! It's bigger and a bit better and white instead of cream. He brought it over from another empty apartment and did a switch around and so now someone else gets my small fridge and I get their big one!
